Micro Chemical Engineering and Technology mainly takes microstructured reaction and separation systems as the research objects to realize the safe, efficient and green production of chemicals. Micro chemical engineering system is a chemical engineering system based on micro structural components. It can manipulate the chemical process in the micron or submillimeter confined space, strengthen the mixing, transfer and reaction process by reducing the flow or dispersion scale of the system, and improve the process efficiency and safety. Taking "quantity amplification" as the basic criterion, it can quickly and reliably apply the laboratory results to the industrial process.

Since Academician Jiading Wang and Professor Guangsheng Luo put forward the research direction of "Developing Micro Mixing and Separation Equipment" at the Fragrant Hills Science Conference in September 2002, the micro chemical engineering team led by Professor Luo has been carrying out research work in the field of micro chemical engineering industry. After more than 20 years of unremitting efforts, micro-scale single-phase and multiphase flow, mixing, micro-scale transfer performance and micro-scale chemical reaction performance have been researched carefully. Systematic research has been done on the amplification method and industrial application of micro equipment, forming a relatively complete theoretical basis, and accumulating rich industrial practical experience of micro chemical engineering technology. Some research results have won provincial, ministerial and national awards, and more than 20 sets of micro chemical engineering technology have been promoted in industrial application, covering many fields such as phosphoric acid, powder, rubber and pharmaceutical intermediates, creating great economic value for enterprises.
